Thoughts/hcs re: the 2003 animated teen titans series:

Robin having multiple flavours of angst including but not limited to: "ScRew YoU yOu'Re nOT mY dAd", general teenage angst, not wanting to be under batman's shadow angst, thinks he's getting replaced by a younger sibling angst (jason), etc and running away from home to live on the custom built T shaped tower on the private island that's all very much being paid for by batman

At some point Jason steals the red x suit and uses it to torment Dick!robin CONSTANTLY. Bruce either doesn't know a thing about this or does, but doesn't let on that he knows, and is just watching on from a distance with fatherly affection like "aww they're bonding :)" while dick is popping a blood vessel with stress going "WHO is this KID???"

When Bruce adopted Jason he had no intention of making him Robin, but at some point the red x shenanigans were going so far that he actually started feeling bad for dick so he had to put his foot down like, alright, this kid clearly has some energy to burn off or something, let's redirect that energy to something more productive. Like punching the sHIT OUT OF GOTHAM GOONS HELL YEAH. And gives Jason the Robin ii mantle

Jason "gremlin child" Todd is clearly very "yippee :) violence" about this and the red x fuckery stops, but of course dick!robin finds out about this and is all "you replaced me?? >:'( I HATE YOU DAD" and his list of reasons to be angsty and emo increases yet again. Clearly his stress never ends

Eventually dick grows out of his teenage angst and becomes everyone's favourite big brother figure nightwing. And every time Jason tries to tell anyone about Dick's emo angsty edgy menace robin era NOBODY believes him. This is cosmic karma for all the times he broke into the titans tower and moved all of Dick's furniture two inches to the left so he'd stub his toe in the morning. I want Tim!Robin and Red Hood caught in camera fighting where Tim’s being such a little shit trying to get Jason back in to the family and get him to bond, that Jason ends up throwing back “Yeah, how’s fracticide for a bonding activity?” Only Tim smiles like the little freak he is. In his mind, he is like wow he skipped steps two to five and acknowledged we’re brothers. progress.

meanwhile, Jason is screaming in frustration and shooting at him, but just missing him cause he is sorry about titans tower but that’s about it. he doesn’t like the brat, he doesn’t want to play happy family with him and he doesn’t appreciate his efforts of purposely getting in dangerous situations in front of Jason so he has to sweep in just because he feels guilty. Anyways the next day Jason wakes up to a bunch of headlines and conspiracies stating his sibling rivalry with Robin publicly which what. Now Jason has many of his enemies trying to get back at him via the little idiot and oh my fucking god Jason has never been so distracted as to having to keep up with bat comm than he is now. He curses everything and everyone and begrudgingly has his goons act like traffic light protection control.

Yes Jason has accidentally been given the chance to redeem himself by dealing with a problem he himself made and he’s giving himself sooo much shit for it. He literally never meant everyone to question in polls who’s now more protective over Robin—Jason’s literally mortified????to have Batman compared to him in that regard??? Jason may not like Robin at all but hell is the bar fucking low. that he refuses to let the dumbass die in the same colors he did is—is not a fucking custody battle?? what why is Vicky Vale painting it like that

Jason swears he has never hated the media more than he does now. He is constantly framed in being in a competition with Batman?? which yeah he gets a fucking kick of winning one over the asshole but he literally said it in that fucking video (the beginning of his downfall) he is the Tim’s older brother why do they have to bring Batman in the conversation?? he fucking hates him. thinking abt s6 dualities again bc mapicc's habit of always being so mindful and careful of his low heart friends Kills Me. like on sunday he was soooo frustrated abt the fact that he had nobody who was willing to fight w him or take a death for the chance at getting the mace, yet He was the one who told ro not to fight bc it just wasnt worth it for her to go into a fight w clown on six bc she'd just get obliterated by the mace

mind you, minute was on 7? 8? at this point which is also very much one shot range for the mace LOL (though i think the fact that theyre teammates makes mapicc see things differently. ro agreeing to help fight clown would've only get her killed and since shes not In the empire, she is putting her own life at risk for THEM to get the mace and with very little pay off for her. it'd only end up w her losing without getting anything in return— especially since unlike minute and chief, its unlikely that ro has a teammate who'll be there to help her regear and get her hearts up again)

BUTTTTT thats not the only instance of mapicc having a bit of bias in his worries ☝️🤓 bc during the warden killing stream he didnt rly care abt bacon, hannah, or jumper doing dumb, risky shit that could get them killed nearly as much in comparison. like when they got all close and personal w the wardens and did stuff that was dumb and yk kinda more obviously for Content then survivability it was funny. and yet when ro asks to be crit, its "i'll crit bacon— actually, just crit me." and when its ro running back into the warden's danger radius, its "don't...you are So confident 😭" while following after her. same w the battle for spawn, it was kinda just accepted that there would be deaths and that Most of the deaths would be the chungus players, and once again ☝️☝️☝️ after vodwatching i have confirmed ro was the only one in either fight that mapicc told to leave the fight entirely After bfb began targetting her

now i know im just Saying Things rn but the reason im pointing this out is bc i think . the reason s6 dualities is this way, why mapicc worries abt ro's low heart count sm is bc of their relationship in s5. like ro spent around half of s5, maybe a bit longer on VERY low hearts after she gave mapicc almost all of her hearts nd ended up banned shortly after. and none of her Actual teammates seemed to do more than just Say they cared— they never rly did anything to revive, protect, or help her like mapicc did

like from what ive watched so far, the only people who ever seemed to defend ro or even spend time w her when she was low on hearts was mapicc and Sometimes planet. lalas CLAIMED to care abt ro but they werent the ones who revived her, they werent even the ones who would spend time w her on the server after she was revived and running around on 4 hearts. and ro was...not good on low hearts. like she would just get killed by people and hesitated to push people to give her hearts back so mapicc ended up being the one who did it for her, even when his own actual teammate was the one who killed her. she continuously made dumb decisions like trying to join in on fights that would only get her killed bc again; she had like 4 hearts and no gear to her name and mapicc had to be the one to tell her Not to do it bc a few crits from a pickaxe w strength could kill her

even when ro stopped being as fragile, she seemed to die so damn much when she was fighting alongside minute. her and planet both. theyd both die and theyd die and theyd die for minute and he would always get out of fights deathless, doing an honestly kinda shit job at having weaker teammates who very much rely on him to be the strong one during these fights. which was yk, obvious to the abyss since they were the ones killing those two

so yeah like i think. seeing ro go from someone so tripped up on power during s4 –> to accepting it and giving up after spoke makes it clear shes not wanted on the team at the end of s4 during wormhole(?) (im not Too knowledgable on wormhole but like lmk if im wrong here, this is what ive heard abt what ro did during wh) –> to her being someone incredibly squishy during s5 who died like. a lot. even moreso without mapicc or Any teammate who knows how to deal w her basically up until she joined the players, changed their relationship and how mapicc views her even in comparison to his other squishy chungus friends (like planet and bacon) bc hes more then aware that she'll take risks that others wont and she'll walk into battles that will only get her killed if she thinks itll help him

like s5 was when ro was at the weakest mapicc had ever seen her since they teamed in s4 and yet, s5 was also the season she went on to prove her loyalty and care for Him Specifically in her willingness to sacrifice and risk so much for him alone. even if she had other reasonings for giving him her hearts or for betraying lalas and the foundation in the end, the fact remains that a large part of what made her do these things was her attachment to mapicc. which is why they are still...the way they are in s6, ro hasnt even done anything that crazy for him but he knows she WOULD and thats why he returns the care she gives him in the ways hes able to— like worrying abt her health nd not making her make sacrifices for his sake alone when he cant do much for her to repay her for it

I really enjoyed the process🥹🫶 My “normal” art is generally a lot more detailed and time-consuming than these fanarts…something I genuinely LOVE is just spending lots of time focusing on the small details & forgetting everything else.

I’m overall really happy with how this turned out, I’ve been practicing A LOT😳 but even so, pork skin isn’t the same as a living, breathing human. I think this design might have been a BIT too complicated to be my first one but oh well…I learned a lot and pushing myself off the deep end is always how I learn best😆😆😤🙏

I think the reason beckory works well is that tony has a habit of getting self righteous and in his own head about things but Gregory isnt afraid to tell him off or call him out about things. the point of tony in ggy is that nobody ever told him that how hes treating other people isnt good, so that's why he got so bad. but tony would be close to Gregory and have every rational reason in the world to listen to Gregory so when he would say something like "you're treating ellis badly and that's not what a good friend does, you need to do better" hed actually listen and take it into account and improve himself
